Exploited by a devious school system, young Souleymane ends up on the street, forced to beg and hand over his takings to the Sérignes daara, the “coranic teachers” who are supposed to provide him with an education.
Petit bout de bois describes the everyday life of Senegal’s street children through marionnettes. It tells the story of the courage of these crafty children, who never abandon their dreams despite life’s difficulties, and who, each day, find a new way to survive as a small child in a world of big people.
